US election 2016: New Hampshire set for key primary
    A voter in the New Hampshire primary
    People in the US state of New Hampshire are to vote in the contests between candidates seeking the Republican and the Democratic party nominations.
On the Republican side, frontrunner Donald Trump is hoping for a better performance than in last week's Iowa caucuses, won by Senator Ted Cruz.
The main Democratic race is between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.
The tiny town of Dixville Notch cast the first votes at midnight, favouring Bernie Sanders and John Kasich

Hong Kong clashes as police clear food stalls

    Clashes have broken out in Hong Kong's Mong Kok district as police cleared illegal food stalls set up for Lunar New Year celebrations.
    Violence erupted overnight as food and hygiene inspectors tried to remove vendors from the junction of Portland Street and Shan Tung Street.
    Angry protesters threw bricks and other missiles at police.
    Police used batons and pepper spray and fired two warning shots into the air. At least 23 people were arrested.
    At least 44 people, including police and journalists, were injured.
    Chief Executive CY Leung has condemned the unrest, saying Hong Kong "can never tolerate that and the police will spare no effort to arrest the rioters".

    imageKARACHI: On Tuesday, until mid day, KSE-100 Index was at 32438.48 with a negative change of -267.74 and volume of 42,745,300 shares.
    High and Low were 32717.41 and 32421.02 respectively. Total volume traded in the market was 77,967,250shares with 246 total traded companies out of which 67 were up, 172 were down and 7 were unchanged.
    TRANSPORT was the top traded sector with total traded volume of 13,226,000 shares. It was followed by INV. BANKS / INV. COS. / SECURITIES COS. with a total traded volume of 10,737,500 shares.

    The eligibility criterion for the Indian Railway Accounts Service exam is actually as same as for other services.  If the aspirant qualifies the civil services and gets an allotment to the service according to their rank, then she/he would have to go through specified training.

Power being restored after Storm Imogen hits England and Wales

    Although the eye of the storm passed on Monday night, high tides and large waves are expected to continue along the south coast of England on Tuesday, forecasters warned.

'Phenomenal'

    Winds of more than 80mph were recorded in many areas, including 81mph on the Isles of Scilly, 84mph in Pembrey Sands, Carmarthenshire, and 96mph at The Needles, off the Isle of Wight.
    The Met Office said "phenomenal" sea conditions were also measured at several points offshore. Defined as waves of more than 14m (46ft), it is the highest level on the World Meteorological Scale.
    More than 50 Environment Agency flood warnings are in place, meaning flooding is expected and immediate action is required. These include several put in place by Natural Resources Wales.
    There are also about 180 flood alerts, meaning flooding is possible and to be prepared.

    • At one point, about 19,000 homes were without power on Monday, but the majority have now been reconnected. Most of those still cut off are in Devon and Cornwall
    • Two young children were badly injured when part of a garden wall was brought down on top of them as they walked to school in Worcestershire
    • A special bridge to help dormice cross the Church Village by-pass near Pontypridd safely collapsed and hit the windscreen of a car, causing traffic congestion
    • P&O Ferries says most of its services are now running to schedule after widespread delays on Monday. Several Brittany Ferries services were cancelled and customers are advised to call the company to arrange alternative travel
    • The M48 Severn Bridge has reopened. The QEII Bridge at Dartford and the Sheppey Crossing are also open after closing for much of Monday
    • There was disruption to a number of train lines, including the cancellation of all services in and out of Cornwall after a tree fell across the tracks near Bodmin
    • South West Trains says its network is returning to normal, but there are some service alterations on Tuesday morning
    • A number of schools in Cornwall were closed because of power cuts and storm damage
    • Several parts of Bridgend town centre were shut because of falling roof tiles
